Hampden 5/6 "B" girls cruise past Hermon in EMBBL playoff matchup

HAMPDEN - Saturday afternoon at Reeds Brook School in Hampden, the Hampden 5/6 "B" girls proved to be to much for the Hermon Hawks, as the young Broncos set the tone early and cruised to a 30-12 victory over the Jr. Hawks in an Eastern Maine Basketball League travel game.

Hampden set the tempo of the game early, as they jumped out to an 8-2 lead with 9:35 still remaining in the first half. The Broncos closed out the half with a 13 -6 lead. MaKayla Shaw and Abby Gregor combined for eight points to lead the Hampden attack in the opening half.

The Broncos opened the second half with an 8-0 run over the first six minutes to stretch out their lead to 21-6. The final 10 minutes saw Hampden close out the game with a 9-6 score for the 30-12 victory.

Mia Curtis topped Hampden in scoring with seven points, and Lily Philbrook added five points. Shaw, Gregor, and Addison Schall each scored four points, while Addi Elliot and Lila Simpson each chipped in with two points. Hampden went 4-for-10 (40 percent) from the free throw line.

Providing the scoring for Hermon was Lila Ryan with seven points, Madelyn Tracy with four points, and Maddie McDougel with one point. The Hawks went 2-for-5 (40 percent) from the charity stripe.
