Glenburn boys cruise to victory over Clippers

GLENBURN - Thursday afternoon at the Glenburn School, the Chargers proved to be to strong for the Samuel L. Wagner boys as Glenburn cruised to a 63-28 victory over the Clippers in a middle school match up. Glenburn improved to 3-1 on the young season, while Wagner fell to 0-3 with the loss.

Glenburn opened with an 11-5 first quarter lead, and out scored the Clippers 20-11 in the second quarter to take a 31-16 lead into the half time break.

In the third quarter, the Chargers jumped out to a 40-16 lead on a 9-0 run over the first four minutes and closed out the period with an 18-4 score to take a 49-20 lead into the final period. A 14-8 fourth quarter gave the Chargers a 32-12 second half for the 35 point margin of victory.

Glenburn's balanced scoring attack was led by Sebastian Vanidestine with 12 points and Jonah Pepin with 10 points. Logan McMahon, Jake Perry, and Colby Haggerty each added eight points, Greg Baines scored six points, and Brady Hews had five. Yates Emerson, Tony Bisson, and Dante Paine each chipped in with two points.

Glenburn had one 3-point basket by Hews, and they went 4-for-13 (31 percent) from the free throw line.

Kamron Tardif scored a game high 17 points to lead the Clippers offense. Garrett McLeod added five points, and Simon Wilso Ayer and Kade Bartlett each scored three points.

Wagner had five 3-point baskets, three from Tardif and one each by McLeod and Bartlett, and they went 5-for-6 (83 percent) from the charity stripe.
