EMBL: Brewer 7-8th "A" comes from behind to overpower Glenburn 7-8th "A"

BREWER — Brewer High School was the location for this Eastern Maine Basketball League (EMBL) game between the visiting Glenburn 7/8th grade "A" team and the same from Brewer. There were six games on tap today as there are most Sunday's.

Today's game was back and forth most of the way with Glenburn taking a 23-17 lead to end the first-half before Brewer came back in the second half to outscore the visitors 18-10 for the 35-33 win.

Allie Flagg and Lauren Voteur led Brewer with 10 points each; Mariah Roberts, eight; and Linsdey Pine, seven.

Brewer was 12-of-25 (48 percent) from the foul line and they had two 3-point baskets, both from Flagg.

For Glenburn, they were led by Lucy Wiles with her game-high 19 points; Emma Westrich added six; and Katie Hews, Lauren Hogan, Sophie Peterson, and Molly Simcox had two each.

Glenburn was 4-of-8 (50 percent) from the foul line and they had one 3-point basket from Wiles.

Trailing by six after the first-half Brewer fought back with a better defense and started making shots that they were missing in the first stanza. 

Glenburn took its last lead of the game at 4:53 31-29. At 1:15 Brewer took the lead for good with the score tied 31-31 when Flagg nailed a 3-pointer from the left side giving them a 34-31 lead.

Glenburn's, Wiles, made a pair of foul shots to make it 34-33 and that was as close as it was going to get with Brewer scoring one more on a foul shot to capture the win by a slim margin.
