Broncos 3rd/4th grade girls pull out late victory over Brewer

BREWER - Sunday morning at Brewer High School, the Hampden Broncos came back from a 2-point first-half deficit to break a tie game with the winning basket coming with under one minute left in the game in a 19-17 victory over the Brewer Witches in an Eastern Maine Basketball League girls travel game.

With the game tied at 17-17 and the clock ticking to under one minute left in the game, Hampden's Quinn Bennett put the ball up and into the hoop with 55 seconds remaining to play to give the Broncos a 19-17 lead and eventual winning score. The basket by Bennett was her only score of the game. The Witches had three opportunities to score in the closing seconds, but each shot missed and the Broncos grabbed the rebounds preventing second-chance shots each time.
