Brewer outlasts MDI in EMBL 7-8th grade girls hoop action

BREWER –  In the first game of the day at Brewer High School for the Eastern Maine Basketball League the Brewer 7-8th grade girls hosted MDI holding off an exciting comeback attempt for the 48-41 win for the Brewer girls.

Brewer took a 26-17 halftime lead after leading 14-2 early. MDI continued the climb back in the second half outscoring Brewer 24-22, even taking a 39-37 lead late in the game before falling 48-41.

Allie Flagg led the Brewer team with 32 points as she put on a middle school clinic on attacking the basket. Flagg had 10 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and made six foul shots.

Also scoring for Brewer was Lindsey Pine six points; Jayden Schoppe four; Lauren Voteur three; Mariah Roberts two; and Kate Brydges one.

MDI did not provide names, but #26 was outstanding on both ends of the floor scoring 23 points including going 12-of-16 from the foul line.
