Oceanside girls too much for Mt. View in preseason tournament hoops play

OLD TOWN – The Oceanside girls basketball team and the Mount View Mustangs, made the trip up to Old Town for the 1st Annual Old Town Athletic Hall of Fame Basketball Tournament held at Old Town High School.

These are both young, okay, very young teams with today's two teams featuring just one senior in Molly Gould of Oceanside. Mount View in fact only has two juniors. There are nine freshmen players between the two teams. Two teams that should be fun to watch and see develop over this year and next.

Today, it was all Oceanside with the 68-36 win led by junior Grace Woodman and freshman Audrey Mackie with 18 points each; Abby Waterman added eight; Gould and Ahlivia Morris, six each; Autumn Harvey, four; and Jessica Watkinson, Abby Hersey, Emily Sykes, and Katherine Freeman, had two each.

The Mariners were 15-of-25 (60 percent) from behind the foul line. They had four 3-point baskets, three from Woodman and one from Mackie.

The Mustangs were 13-of-25 (52 percent) from the charity stripe and they had a pair of 3-point baskets, one each from, Coolen and Roux.

Oceanside will host Marranacook in their season opener Friday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.  Mount View will travel to Winslow for its season opener Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
