John Bapst, Mount View JV boys play to a 0-0 deadlock

ORONO – The John Bapst JV boys hosted Mount View of Thorndike Saturday morning at the University of Maine in Orono.

The two teams played well, but neither could break the goal line ending the game in a 0-0 tie. The Mustangs played a little more aggressively in the first half gaining a few more scoring opportunities, however, the majority of the game was played in the middle of the field as both teams defensive line in the back was too strong to allow many shots on goal.

With the game in the record books and time to use before the varsity game started the two teams decided to do penalty kicks for practice with the Mount View boys outscoring John Bapst 2-1.

Owen Butler took the first PK for the Crusaders right at the Mustangs keeper, Declan Knowlton. The Mustangs put Issac Widman up first and he blasted it into the corner past John Bapst keeper Matt Fitzpatrick.

Next up for the Crusaders was Jack Mason who nailed it to tie the score at 1-1. Mount View took the 2-1 lead when Zachary Suitor buried the ball in the back of the goal. That was the last shot made giving the Mustangs a 2-1 PK practice win.
