Bangor field hockey captures win over visiting Brewer

BANGOR – The Bangor field hockey squad hosted Brewer Thursday in an afternoon matchup with the Rams taking a 3-0 win over the Witches.

In the first half, the Witches played most of the 30 minutes pressuring the Rams but were unable to break through the backfield to finish.

The Rams scored the first goal at 22:30 in the first half when Kaylee Perkins corralled the ball from Madison Burns and just got a shot past the outstretched leg of Brewer goalie, Maddy Diaz, for the goal.

Bangor got on the scoreboard again at 22:37 in the second half on a goal from Kate Ruhlin with an assist from Perkins. The Rams finished the scoring at 3:55 on a goal from Emma Heath with an assist from Meaghan Caron.

Bangor and Brewer had four penalty corners each. Brewer took six shots in the game, four in the first and two in the second half. Bangor had eight shots, six in the first and two in the second half.

Bangor goalie Mackenzie Morin had three saves to get the win in goal. Diaz, played a tough game, making five saves.

Bangor goes to 2-2 on the season and will travel to Auburn to take on Edward Little High School, Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.

Brewer falls to 1-2 with the loss and will host Lewiston next Tuesday, at 6 p.m.
