Oceanside JV girls shine in matchup against MCI

ROCKLAND – The Oceanside JV girls team hosted MCI in the first of two games Friday night with the upstart Mariners taking a 69-33 win over the Huskies.

Oceanside led after each quarter, 20-9, 37-15 and 54-29 heading into the final stanza.  The Mariners were led in the first quarter by Grace Woodman and Jessica Watkinson with five points each. Woodman blew it up in the second quarter, with 13 points including three of her five 3-point baskets on the night.

Scoring for Oceanside was Woodman with a game-high 27 points; Katherine Freeman 14; Watkinson nine; Autumn Harvey eight; Jordan Beal six; Molly Gould four; and Lydia Ross one.  The Mariners were 9-of-19 from the foul line and the had six 3-pointers, five from Woodman and one from Watkinson.

For MCI, Emily Linkletter had 10; Jillian Frost eight; Leah Bussell seven; Kylie Woodman four; and Carrie Burr and Meghan Reed two each. The Huskies were 7-of-13 from the foul line.
