Erskine Academy bests Camden Hills freshmen in barn burner

ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills boys freshmen basketball team hosted Erskine Academy of So. China in a matchup Thursday at Camden Hills.

This game was a battle with both teams having numerous chances to put the game away but was unable to do so as time ran out with the Eagles picking up the 63-62 win over the Windjammers.

Camden Hills led after the first quarter 11-9 and at the half 31-27. By the end of the third Erskine had tied the game at 51-51 heading into the final stanza. Both teams struggled in the fourth to put points up, missing numerous foul shots on both ends of the floor and not being able to buy a basket until Erskine finally scored the go-ahead basket with 10 seconds left on the clock. Caden Hills had the last three shots before the final horn and could not get one of them to go.

Scoring for Camden Hills was Andrew Proscia with a game-high 22 points; Logan Putansu 11; Ethan Carbello 10; Ben Craft and Aiden Schecter six each; Skye Abaldo five; and Addison Barnhill two.  The Windjammers were 7-of-12 (58 percent) from the foul line.

For Erskine Academy, Dan page had 19 points; Hunter St. Jarre 13; Michael Nichols and Dylan Wing nine each; Logan Lee seven; and Logan Tenny six. The Eagles were 9-of-21 (43 percent) from behind the charity stripe.
