Oceanside baseball falls in heartbreaker 1-0 to MDI

MOUNT DESERT ISLAND – The No. 11 Oceanside baseball squad traveled to the island Monday for a Class B North prelim matchup with No. 6 MDI and had their season cut short falling 1-0 despite an outstanding pitching performance from Logan Sheridan and Jack Freeman.

Sheridan and Freeman combined on a three-hitter allowing one unearned run on three hits and no walks. Both pitchers did hit a batter. They had three strikeouts.

MDI scored its lone run in the second inning on Mac Shea’s 2-out RBI single that plated Drew Shea, who reached on an error.

Seth Clark fired a complete game 4-hit shutout, striking out six en route to a 1-0 MDI win over Oceanside.

Oceanside finishes it’s season at 9-8 while MDI will move on to the quarterfinals with an 11-6 record.

The Mariners graduate just two players, Sam Townsend and Coby Dorr.
