Ravens, Islanders, Coppola, Fisher pick up Little League wins

ROCKLAND – The Oceanside Little League season is winding down with just a couple of days left to get the games in.

Saturday saw a slew of games being played in baseball with the Vinalhaven Ravens sweeping Kiwanis 26-4 and 10-7 in a doubleheader. Raven Coach Nip picked up his 150th win in his 19 years of coaching Vinalhaven Little League.

In other baseball, Fisher defeated Rotary 4-2 and in the evening matchup in Thomaston Elks took on Lions. The score for that game was unavailable.

In Softball the Islanders continued their undefeated season with a doubleheader sweep of George Hall, 18-9 in the first game and 8-7 in the second.

The other contest on the schedule saw Coppola defeat Glen Cove Dental 17-4.

Baseball has just two games Sunday, May 28 and two Monday, May 29 to finish up the season.

Softball has one game today between the Dragons and Coppola Sunday and two games plus a finish to a game called in a tie on Monday. All three games Monday involve the Islanders.

The Current Standing as the season comes to a close and the teams prepare for the playoffs starting next weekend.
