Oceanside overpowers St. George on the diamond

ROCKLAND – The Oceanside 8th-grade baseball team hosted St. George Tuesday at Morrill Field and took home a 14-2 4 1/2 inning mercy rule win over the Dragons.

Oceanside scored one run in the first, nine in the second and four in the third. St. George got both of its runs in the third.

Elliot Lucier and Zach Healy pitched for the Mariners allowing two runs on 2 hits and four walks while fanning 12.

At the plate, Oceanside was led by Nathan Coombs, Finnegan Lynch and Joey Curtis with two hits and two runs each. Lucier had a hit and two runs, Matt Spear, Austin Pagano, Aiden Bonzagni and Landdon Willis had a hit and a run each. Healey and Barnard had a run each.

Zack Upham and Obie Miller pitched for St. George and allowed 14 runs on 11 hits and seven walks while striking out five.

Logan Putansu had the only two hits for the Dragons and Ethan Carballo and Upham scored their two runs.
