THOMASTON The Oceanside girls lacrosse team hosted Westbrook Saturday afternoon in a game moved to later in the day because of a lack of officials.

Top it off and Westbrook was late arriving dealing with traffic to get to the game and it was after 3 p.m. before the game got underway.
The delay certainly did nothing to change the Mariners approach as they went on to a 13-2 win over the visitors.
Offensively for Oceanside, Kelsey Brooks (3 assists), Emily Tyler (2 assists), Nicole Ladd (assist), Jillian Brooks (4 assists, 4 goals), Sierra Beal (3 goals), Julia Barbour (2 goals), Mattie Hooper (2 goals), and Hope Butler and Gabby Straka (goal each).
Samantha Berry had four saves in goal for the Mariners.
For Westbrook, McKenzie Daugherty and Avery Tucker had a goal each and Sydney Cole had four saves in goal.
“It was a great Saturday to play lacrosse,” said Oceanside coach Angela Vachon. “After a late start, the Mariners took charge, played well as a team and looked out and supported each other to make it through 50 minutes of very hot play. Our four subs for this game really did great work off the bench; Shannon Ripley and Bea Weinand on the defensive end with stand your ground play and Mattie Hooper with her two left side goals and Nicole Ladd with her assists, really made an impact on this game for their team.”
