Maine Sports Report: Oceanside grapplers host three team meet

ROCKLAND – The Oceanside middle school wrestling team played host to Mt. View and Bucksport middle school Wednesday, March 1, in a three-team Pine Tree League meet held at Oceanside high school.

The meet opened with Bucksport defeating Mt. View 69-6. Second up was Mt. View and Oceanside with the Mariners taking a 54-24 win. The third and final was Bucksport at Oceanside with Bucksport taking a 54-30 win to travel home with.

Individual results of the matches are as follows.

75 pounds – Bucksport and Mt. View double forfeit; Gavin Ripley (OS) won by forfeit over Mt. View and Bucksport.

81 pounds – Madolin Ripley (OS) won by forfeit over Bucksport and Mt. View.

87 pounds – Connor Fitch (BUC) pinned Blair Barnard (MTV) at 0:28; pinned Patrick Faller (OS); and Faller (OS) pinned Barnard (MTV).

93 pounds – Kayden Foster (BUC) won by forfeit over Mt. View; was pinned by Hale Morris (OS); and Morris won by forfeit over Mt. View.

99 pounds – A. Maguire (BUC) pinned Cameron Rae (MTV); Seth Spear (OS) pinned Rae (MTV); and Maguire (BUC) won by major decision over Spear (OS).

105 pounds – Kaleb Nightingale (BUC) pinned Davin Barnard (MTV); Barnard (MTV) won by forfeit over Oceanside; and Travis Hutchinson (BUC) won by forfeit over Oceanside.

111 pounds – Hutchinson (BUC) won by forfeit over Mt. View; a double forfeit with Mt. View and Oceanside; and Nightingale (BUC) won by forfeit over Oceanside.

117 pounds – Jacob Jalbert (BUC) defeated Morgan Fonger (MTV); M. Fonger won by forfeit over Oceanside; and Jalbert (BUC) won by forfeit over Oceanside.

123 pounds – Tyler Hallett (BUC) won by forfeit over Mt. View; Nate Taylor (OS) won by forfeit over Mt. View; and Hallett (BUC) pinned Taylor (OS).

130 pounds – Zach Ward (MTV) pinned Cameron Rich (BUC); Ward (MTV) won by forfeit over Oceanside; and Rich (BUC) won by forfeit over Oceanside.

137 pounds – Josh Miller (BUC) pinned Emma Fonger (MTV); E. Fonger (MTV) won by major decision over Wilhemenia O’Brien (OS); and Miller (BUC) pinned O’Brien (OS).
