Oceanside JV out gun visiting MCI

ROCKLAND – The Oceanside boys basketball program hosted Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield with the junior varsity team taking a commanding 61-43 win.

The Mariners came out hot taking a 14-4 first quarter lead before exploding for 24 points in the second quarter to take a comfortable 38-13 halftime advantage. MCI played much better in the second half, but the damage was already done. with Oceanside taking a 53-27 lead into the final stanza where they coasted to the win.
Scoring for Oceanside was Trevor Reed with 12 points; Josh Peaco eight; Jacob Curtis seven, Hunter Davis six; Brett Start and Jack Freeman five each; Alex O'Brien, Jaden Martin, Logan Sheridan, and Leo Reid three each; and Zach Cody, Dustin Cole and Isiah Millay two each.

The Mariners were 10-of-15 from the foul line and they knocked down six 3-pointers, two from Reed and Davis and one each from O'Brein and Curtis.
For MCI, Will Russell had a game0high 15 points; Duncan Boreham seven; Matthew Glidden and Cody Marquis five each; TJ Stewart and Jake Gerke three each; Hayden Caldwell and Dominic Wilson two each; and TJ Kuespert one.
The Huskies shot 13-for-20 from the foul line and they had two 3-pointers, one each from Marquis and Gerke.
