Smith powers Orono "B" girls to victory over Chargers

GLENBURN - Thursday night at Glenburn Middle School, Cloey Smith out scored the Chargers to lead the Orono Red Riots to a 34-20 victory over Glenburn in a girls "B" division game. Smith scored 22 of the Red Riots game points.

Glenburn took the early lead with 5:04 left in the opening quarter when Lauren Hogan scored off a nice pass from Alyssa Dempsey for a 2-0 lead, but two minutes later the Red Riots went ahead with a 4-2 lead which they never relinquished.

Joining Smith in scoring for the Red Riots were Emily Sinclair with six points and Roxanne Carroll, Grace Longley, and Marissa McLaughlin each with two points. Orono had no 3-point baskets, and they did not go to the foul line.

Alyssa Thomas and Hogan topped Glenburn in scoring with six points each, and Elyse Nadeau added four points. Cayden Fournier and Alyssa Dempsey each chipped in with two points.

The Chargers had no 3-point baskets, and they went 0-for-4 from the free throw line.
